Digital Photography Class – Greenville
Are you serious about learning photography basics and beyond? Is photography something you’re passionate about? Then this class is for you!
Join us for a full day of photography instruction! We rent private event space to provide a quiet and peaceful setting for you to learn in.
This six-hour class is geared for those with with DSLRs and cameras with advanced features beyond the scope of the traditional point-and-shoots. We’ll cover the basics and then move on to the more advanced topics that those who are serious about their photographic hobby want to know.
We cover the six hours of classroom material in a relaxing, fun presentation. Then, weather permitting, we head out into Falls Park for an hour to give you the chance to practice what you’ve just learned in a gorgeous setting! The great thing about this class is the hands-on experience. We don’t cram 150 people in a room for three hours and go our merry way. We want you to jump-start your photography!
During this time your instructors will be available to help you as you begin putting your new knowledge into practice. This optional photo field trip allows you the time to interact with your instructors and ask individual questions about your specific camera. Those who stay for this part always get the most out of the experience, so plan to stick around!

- Shutter speed, f/stops, ISO, color balance
- What are all those settings and buttons?
- What your camera can and can’t do
- Introduction to composition
- Batteries
- Eliminating blur… whether motion or focus -related
- And for those who have interchangeable lenses, which lens to use
- Shooting children’s sporting events, graduations, and family gatherings
- Outdoor Photography
- Why you never get the moon right in photos
Dates Offered:

The instructor
This class is taught by Gene Taylor, a Certified Professional Photographer. His love of photography and many years of experience make this class a fun, unique experience!
With more than 30 years of experience as an award-winning photographer, Gene Taylor brings passion for visual storytelling to every photography class. He has been trained by some of the leading photographers in America. Gene is a former photojournalist who currently teaches photography at a local college in Greenville. His professional affiliations include the Professional Photographers of America and the National Association of Photoshop Professionals.
What you’ll need
Bring your camera and the manual. It is impossible for the instructor to know the operation of every camera made. If possible, know how to change your camera’s ISO, shutter speed, and aperture. If you can’t figure it out, we’ll help. Come with a charged up battery and an empty memory card.
Child care is not provided and it is not recommended to bring children.
The cost
$189 for the six-hour course and one hour field trip, including handout material. You can take the class on the listed day that’s convenient for you.
